Strengthening Accounting Education 2023: ICAI Partners with CA Maldives

 

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives) have joined hands to strengthen their bilateral relations during the SAFA IFRS and ISAs Forum 2023, hosted by CA Maldives.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on the second day of the forum, reflecting the commitment of both institutes to enhance knowledge and professional development in the field of accounting. This collaborative MoU aims to establish a platform for mutual cooperation, focusing on advancing Accounting Knowledge, Professional and Intellectual Development, and the progress of their respective members. The partnership is expected to have a positive impact on the Accounting Profession in both the Maldives and India.

CA. Aniket Sunil Talati, President of ICAI, expressed the organization’s intent to provide technical support, resources, including technical standards, SOPs, study materials, and expert faculties for conducting collaborative programs with CA Maldives. This support is set to contribute significantly to the development of the accountancy profession in both countries and facilitate CA Maldives’ pursuit of membership with the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

Both ICAI and CA Maldives are full members of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), with ICAI hosting the Permanent Secretariat of SAFA. Hussain Niyazy, President of CA Maldives, emphasized that this support from ICAI will benefit CA Maldives in conducting courses and enhancing the capabilities of its members, playing a crucial role in the professional growth of the accountancy community in the Maldives. He also serves as the Auditor General of the Maldives.
